I am so disgusted with Calvin Klein right now! I am really tempted to discontinue Bring-To-Fruition's relationship with the retailer! Have you guys seen this yet? I mean, what exactly are they promoting here?! According to Calvin Klein, the company's "intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic." Does this seem sexy to you guys...and what exactly are they saying to their "targeted demographic"? Please forward your thoughts!

When "E" Speaks, I listen...

I am not listening to “E” because what he’s saying is brilliant or insightful, I am listening to him because most of the time I am rendered speechless by his “alleged” voice of reason. (For those of you who don’t know, “E” is my teenage son).   Anywho, it was Saturday night, and we had just gotten in, (me from playing taxi to him and his friends, him from youth group, basketball, and bowling). I retired to my office for about an hour or so to answer some emails and finish a writing project. “E” on the other hand, I thought would shower and retire to bed. Evidently, he traded sleep for brainstorming because he was waiting to talk when I emerged from my office. Not really in mom-mode, I figured I would entertain his “talk” by simply putting the “yes and no” in the proper place, so I could go to bed already. Don’t take that the wrong way readers, I knew he didn’t want anything important, I assumed he just wanted to brag some more about his 130 bowling game that he was so proud of. Boy was I wrong!

I joined him in the living room for this “talk”, which went a little something like this,

E: Mom, when can we go to the mall to buy my Father’s Day outfit?

Me: Huh?

E: My Father’s Day outfit?! You know it’s coming up, right?! I need a new outfit!

Me: (Trying to find, and use, my nice voice) What entitles you, a child, to a new outfit for Father’s Day?

E: Because I’m the reason, you’re a father, Mom! I should be celebrated!

Mom: (Rendered speechless, got up and retired to her bedroom. Leaving E and his logic right where they were!)

I really, really, can’t make this stuff up.

I am not going to keep you long, (not because I don't want to chat), but my to-do list overfloweth! There are a lot of great auctions ending today, so if you haven't done so already, get your bids in. I introduced a new brand into the store over the weekend, which I normally reserve for my international resell customers, but I thought I would see how you guys like it. The brand is "Lrg", it's a fairly new brand, created in 1999, but I love their clothing and their message. Be sure to check it out if you get a second and tell me what you think! (Not that any of you are short on words!) =0)

Happy Birthday, Remedy...

I’m sorry everybody. I know that it’s Friday, and normally, I would be high-spirited in my post, but I have to make an exception today. I will not be talking about myself, my son, my writing, my customers, or my store. Today, I will be talking about the 3 babies and the 22-year old mother, who were killed by 18-yeald old Donta Cradock. Cradock did not know his victims, Alicia Griffin, 6, Gina Rosario, 7, Latoya Smith, 22, and Remedy Smith, who would have turned 1 today, but he did force them to pay with their lives after he lost control of the car he was in, while trying to flee police. The same police, who now say, they weren’t even chasing Cradock.    

However, even if the police were chasing Cradock through this Kensington neighborhood, that’s not the point. My position is this, how many times will our children be forced to pay for the mistakes of others? I’m not only referring to Cradock, or the police officers, I have to point a finger at our justice system as well. Donta Cradock should not have been behind the wheel of that Pontiac Grand Am, he should have been behind bars. However, on April 15^th, Cradock was released—for the weekend—from a juvenile facility in Pittsburgh. Needless to say, he never returned.

Am I the only person wondering why he was not being sought before he brought attention to himself? I would like to believe the results would have been a little different, and maybe Remedy Smith would be celebrating at her first birthday today instead of being fitted for her angel wings. It broke my heart when I heard her grandfather, Ted Canada, say “the angel has gone home. And one good thing that I can say is she had no reason not to make it in heaven because she had no time to sin”. I’m touched that he could find some joy in this very painful situation, but forgive me for having anger where my sorrow should be.  

I’m angry mostly because I feel as if this horrific accident could have been prevented. Maybe I need to know why he was released in the first place! Yes, let’s start there. I mean, did he somehow find it in his, (8-prior conviction), heart to display some form of good behavior to be granted a weekend furlough? I really need someone to explain to me how this system works because right now—it appears to be broken. My field is business and media; I will not act as if I have some deep understanding as to how the juvenile system works. However, I now have the desire to learn. Reason being, I am tired of these preventable tragedies being embedded on psyche. This week’s injustice cost us 4 very young lives. Last week, Jose Carrasquillo, brutally raped an 11-year old girl, he too, had recently been released from some sort of facility. It is true; the 11-year old girl did not die from her injuries, but imagine everything else that he killed in her.  

I will end here because I do not want to put a damper on anyone’s weekend. Basically, I just want it to stop. I’m willing to help stop it, but can someone just please tell me where to even begin?!

K Y Intense Commercials Must DIE!!!!

I am SOOOOOO over the K-Y Intense commercials! I'm sorry, but considering that we own the airwaves, I should be able to enjoy the evening news, with my teenage son, without worrying about these very disturbing commercial popping up during adverstisement breaks. Silly me, but I am not the least bit interested in what it takes to get you off, lady! Not to mention, the commercials are not only disturbing, they're chauvinistic! That being said, I do not care what is on my to-do list today, but "becoming a thorn in the FCC's side", has just been added to it! Hell, I am putting that mission at the top of the list because these KY Intense Commercials must DIE!!!!!!!

Thank you so very much for my emails concerning the new "WEDS(TEE) Sale"! It's doing really great, too! My wheels are constantly turning, concerning my store, and the idea actually came to me last weekend, so sorry for just springing it on you guys without any notice. However, I think that worked in the stores favor!

Jon & Kate--Separate!

Is it pretty safe to say that it’s Jon & Kate—Separate?! I mean, it is painfully obvious that they want to avoid each other like the H1N1 while taping for the show, so why not just say, “We’re not together anymore”?! I guess it’s really not that big of a deal, but the silence annoys me for some reason. Maybe I feel as if they are trying to deceive me by keeping the elephant in the room from my viewing eyes. Or maybe, I just want them to know that I am not that stupid! What do you guys think?

Preparing for the SALE...

Not much is going on in the store today. We are just preparing for next weeks sale. This will be in addition to $10.00 Tuesdays, which by the way, was very successful last night. I guess you guys finally realized you were missing some great deals! Keep up the good work! Anywho, this particular sale is going to focus on getting rid of the "non-paying bidder" auctions! You know those auctions that people auction all night to win, and in most cases, outbid other serious bidders--only to not pay for the auction! Yeah, gotta love eBay! At any rate, I think I am going to have it on Wednesdays or Thursdays haven't really decided. If you guys have any catchy names available let me know.

"Get My Brooklyn On?!"

Can I just say that I absolutely love the Real Housewives of New Jersey. They had me at hello, but when Dina said she was going to get her "Brooklyn On" with Danielle if she didn't stop spreading rumors, I thought I would die from laughter! I also thought it was absolutely adorable when she was turning into a basket case as Lexi was preparing to leave. Dare I say it, but this show is actually giving Real Housewives of New York a run for their money! I mean what's not to love about Caroline? Danielle is the trainwreck I have no desire to turn a way from! Jacqueline is trying her best to find good in everyone (Sidebar: Jacqueline your search for good in Danielle is going to be in vain). Gotta also love Teresa...and that damn Gia! When her cellphone rung, interrupting her little innocence as she unpacked, I was done. It was her agent, if you're wondering!

I received a few emails over the weekend concerning when would we begin to list winter sets. Normally, we do not post winter inventory until the last week of August. However, with the recession, we still have quite a few winter items from our 2008 winter inventory, so if you would like pictures or anything let us know.
