The headlines found on the Internet and in newspapers are so crazy that most readers have become somewhat verbally desensitized. However, every so often there's that one headline that can cause you to take a second glance, you know, to insure that your eyes are not playing a dirty little trick on you. Then when you realize that you indeed just read what you had hope was deceiving word play, you are forced to come to grips with the notion that the end of the world is near.
On Saturday night, the chopped up body of a 26-year-old prep-school grad was discovered in her Chelsea apartment by her sister. Margaux Powers was mutilated by her 34-year-old boyfriend and hid in the bathtub of her New York apartment.
Dana Powers became suspicious when she could not reach her sister for several days by phone. So on Friday, Dana went to the apartment with personnel from the property and were unsuccessful in finding Margaux because they did not think to check the bathroom. But on Saturday, the sister returned with two relatives, and that's when they made the grizzly discovery.
God knew exactly what he was doing on Friday, I'm sure he didn't want Dana to find her sister butchered without some sort of support because not only did she miss the body on Friday, she also missed the murder note left by Jonathan Smith apologizing for killing her sister.
In the meantime, a few hours after Marguax's body was discovered, Jonathan Smith, the boyfriend, jumped to his death from a lower Manhattan high rise splitting his body in two after it struck a flagpole.
